For the assignment this week I chose to complete option A, which involved exploring flickr and finding an interesting photo to include in my blog.

The tag I chose to use in my search was Australia. Then I used the key word Sydney to find photos of Sydney Australia. I did this mainly because I have friends in Sydney and I am interested in traveling there one day. This search returned hundreds of photos to browse. I had a great time looking through image after image of Sydney Australia. I was rather amazed at the volume of photos my search returned. The photo I chose was very visually interesting. It is a picture of the Sydney harbor bridge with people walking across it. The photographer that uploaded the image was Jun Shea. Here is a link to the photo. http://www.flickr.com/photos/junxed/5431136292/

This image for some reason just seemed to reach out and grab me so I chose to use it in my blog. Flickr was really quite easy to use. I really liked how it gave you numerous search options to find photos. I am also really interested in using Flickr to back up our family photos. My Mom and I have recently began scanning all of our old boxes of family pictures. We’re excited because now we won’t have to haul old, dusty boxes out of the attic in order to look at pictures anymore. I never stopped and thought about losing the photos to a computer crash or house fire. Since I have completed this lesson I plan to upload our most precious images to the Internet so we know they are safely stored somewhere outside of my parents’ house.
